The odds of him getting it soon are likely very slim, but Khamzat Chimaev is campaigning for a scrap with middleweight champ, Israel Adesanya.

Chimaev says he’s “ready for the hunt”

The 26-year-old Chimaev has been taking the MMA world by storm, as a result of a 3-0 start to his UFC run. The Chechen born, Swedish fighter made UFC history in July by winning two fights in just ten days.

Most recently, Chimaev KO’d middleweight contender in Gerald Meerschaert.

Dana White has said that Chimaev’s next bout will be a main event, and it that the opponent will be a ranked opponen. But, following Adesanya’s stoppage win over Paulo Costa at UFC 253, Chimaev tweeted out the post below.

Borz is ready for the hunt and grab what belongs to him. @stylebender

I am ready, make this happen @ufc @danawhite

Can’t blame a guy for trying

Now, considering what Chimaev has accomplished already in the UFC, there’s no doubt a lot of people would like to see him fight Adesanya. But, the chances of this fight happening next seem very, very slim.

Chimaev has not fought someone who is ranked in the top ten yet So, from a meritocratic perpective, it doesn’t make sense.

Due to that, it would be shocking if Adesanya agreed to the match-up, even if the UFC proposed it. Following his win over Costa, the champ has said he wantst to fight Jared Cannonier next, if the latter beats Robert Whittaker on October 24th.

Chimaev is likely on a fast track to a title shot. But he almost certainly needs to defeat a top contender or two before that happens.

You can’t blame him for trying though right?
