Jon Jones Says UFC Should Book Stipe Miocic Fight Next

On account of the devastation Francis Ngannou has inflicted on several, top heavyweights, Dana White’s said “The Predator” is next for the champ Stipe Miocic. Even though Jon Jones is heading up to the division.

But, recently Jones outlined why he believes the UFC should reconsider that position, and have him challenge Miocic next.

“Bones” outlines his case for Miocic – Jones next

Recently Jones buzzed the MMA world by announcing he’s vacating the light heavyweight title and that he’s moving up to heavyweight. The star also made it clear that he intends to win the heavyweight crown.

While White has said he’s open to giving Jones a title shot in his first bout at heavyweight, he’s said Ngannou is next for Miocic. White has also inferred that Jones isn’t planning to fight soon, and therefore, Miocic – Ngannou 2 makes sense (Miocic defeated Ngannou by decision in January, 2018).

Well, while a lot of people seem to be on board with that plan, not everyone is sold that’s the way to go. Evidently, Jones is one of those folks.

In a recent series of tweets, Jones opined that a fight between him and Miocic, and not Miocic and Ngannou, should be tabled.

Stipe doesn’t want to fight Francis again because the first fight really wasn’t close

Looking at it from Stipe’s point of view, fighting Francis again is definitely more of a lose situation than a win.

Stipe asked for a new challenge, why not fight the light heavyweight goat? Besides we’re way closer in size. What’s more exciting than that?

By the time he heals up my body weight should be right where it needs to be. This fight lines up perfectly

Stipe versus Francis is high risk low reward. Stipe versus myself actually makes a lot of sense for both of us. Now you actually have a super fight. Stipe loses the fight is gone

Could this happen?

While there’s no doubt that Ngannou deserves another shot at the belt, you can understand why Jones has made some of these points. Miocic doesn’t have much to gain by facing Ngannoun again, and if he loses, you do lose the greatest heavyweight versus greatest light heavyweight in UFC history angle.

Miocic has also relayed that he’s not super invested in fighting Ngannou again, so, you never know. If Jones can commit to fighting in the not too distant future, maybe this will happen next?
