Conor McGregor

If you were expecting some blow back after Conor McGregor posted images of a text exchange he had with Dana White earlier this year, well, it looks like you were right.

White says McGregor broke the “man code”

Late last week, McGregor made news when he tweeted out images of an apparent text exchange he had with White this past March.

In the messages, McGregor was pushing for his next fight, and at one juncture, he called for a bout with Diego Sanchez. White responded by inferring that fight wasn’t going to happen, since in his view it would be one sided for Conor.

After posting those images, McGregor proceeded to tweet that he’s fighting Manny Pacquiao next.

Well, following UFC 253 White was asked to comment on what went down. The UFC President made it clear he wasn’t happy with McGregor’s decision to publicly surface their correspondence (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“Listen, I’ve had people blowing me up left and right,” White said. “Everybody here knows, even the ladies.

This is some man code stuff, you know? It’s just something you don’t do. It’s one of the dirtiest things you can do.”

“We were just talking about Diego Sanchez,” White said. “Diego Sanchez is in there in a private conversation I was having with Conor.

When you’re the No. 2 or 3 ranked guy in the world and you’re telling me you want to fight but you want to fight unranked, 39-year-old Diego Sanchez in a main event in Los Angeles – no.”

In addition, White was also asked about the recent reports that a boxing match between McGregor and Pacquiao is in the works, and that the UFC is involved. White, however, said this (quote via MMA Fighting).

“I have no idea,” White said. “Listen you guys have been asking me about Conor McGregor forever.

Did you see Conor McGregor’s tweet? The retirement tweet? ‘I am retired.’ Birthday cake, I’m retired.”

McGregor fires back

It didn’t take long for White’s comments to get back to McGregor, as the former UFC champ responded with this:

“Code was broke when you lied about me turning down fights mate. I said Justin in May and you went and said I did not want to fight.

It’s not about Diego. Diego was a filler to get more fights in.

Also you have been involved in Manny talks the legal letters are there. Stop lying.”

So, it’s going to be really, really interesting to see what unfolds from here. Particularly since it seems pretty clear McGregor intends to box Pacquiao.
