It remains to be seen if Sean O’Malley and Cody Garbrandt ever square off in the cage. But, if and when they do, it seems clear the two will have quite the beef.

O’Malley accuses Garbrandt of running

In recent weeks, O’Malley has let it be known that he wants to fight Garbrandt, and he’s also opined that he would knock out the former bantamweight champ.

‘Sugar’ has also argued that Garbrandt won’t agree to fight him, since he’s lower ranked than ‘No Love’. Further, O’Malley believes Garbrandt is intimidated by his abilities.

Well, more recently, Garbrandt has reported that he wants to drop down to 125 pounds to fight new champ, Deiveson Figueiredo. That prompted O’Malley to claim Garbrandt’s running from him, and the Twitter battle below ensued (warning: graphic language).

Will these two end up fighting?

When you consider O’Malley is only 25 year’s-old and Garbrandt is 29, there’s a good chance these two will be collide in the Octagon at some point. That said, if Garbrandt does drop to flyweight, and if he does win the belt, their paths may diverge.

As Garbrandt noted in his exchange with O’Malley, he wants to fight at both flyweight and bantamweight. But, not too many people have been able to do that in UFC history.

First things first for O’Malley, however; he’s booked to fight Marlon Vera at UFC 252, August 15th.
