Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are trying to make their mark in Hollywood. They are “focusing on production at the moment’ because there isn’t a market for “after-dinner talking right now,” according to a royal source.
Meghan And Harry Desperate To Make It In Hollywood
After stepping down as senior members of the British royal family earlier this year, Meghan and Harry assumed that they would be able to easily rake in millions from lucrative speaking engagements.
However, the coronavirus pandemic foiled these plans, leaving Meghan and Harry desperate for income after moving to a lavish mansion in Santa Barbara, California.
An insider told Katie Nicholl for Vanity Fair that the couple is “exploring other avenues” while their public speaking is “on hold.”
“They have to earn a living and clearly there isn’t a market for after-dinner talking right now,” the source explained. “So the public speaking is on hold for the moment and they are exploring other avenues.”
“The focus is on production at the moment and I can see them making a series rather than Meghan starring in front of the camera,” the insider added.
The source went on to say that Meghan and Harry’s main focus is on projects that have meaning for them and are”‘in line with their views.”
Of course, this includes projects that highlight female empowerment, civil rights, and Black Lives Matter.
Meghan And Harry Pitching New TV Show
Recently, reports surfaced that Harry and Meghan were pitching a new television show that takes a “political stance” on feminism and racial inequality. The Mirror reported that Harry and Meghan have been shopping the show, which focuses on “normal people,” to various executives around Hollywood.
“They have suggested a series focusing on the empowerment of women and young girls in today’s world,” a television insider said. “It will home in on race issues, something Meghan has always been passionate about. It’s got quite a political stance and will also draw on feminism. They want the series to continue their vision of empowerment for young people.”
The source added that Meghan and Harry “will appear in it but it’s about ‘normal’ people, not them.”
Meghan Spent Years Trying To Make It In Hollywood
Trying to make it in Hollywood is undoubtedly a familiar feeling for Meghan. She spent years trying to make it as an actress with minimal success.
After working various jobs that included holding a suitcase on the game show “Deal Or No Deal,” Meghan finally found a steady gig on the cable news show “Suits” in her early 30s.
Given her new royal status and her “woke” politics, Meghan will likely find it much easier to find success in the increasingly liberal world of Hollywood this time around.
