Alyssa Milano Tony Danza Who's The Boss reboot

Fans of “Who’s The Boss?” got the surprise of their lives on Tuesday when it was announced that the show’s former stars Alyssa Milano and Tony Danza are rebooting it. The 1980s sitcom’s revival is now in development at Sony Pictures Television. So it looks like Alyssa Milano’s anti-Trump rants and high-profile activism have opened the doors of liberal Hollywood for the former child star once again.

‘Who’s The Boss’ Reboot Is Announced

In the “Who’s The Boss” reboot, Alyssa Milano and Tony Danza will reprise their respective roles of Samantha and Tony Micelli. In addition, the two they have signed on as executive producers alongside the legendary Norman Lear.

The reboot of the show is set to take place thirty years after the original ended. Fast forward and Samantha is now a single mother who is living in the same house as the original series.

Her dad, Tony, is now retired, and the reboot will chronicle his relationship with his adult daughter.

“In line with Norman Lear’s classic shows, the new comedy will explore generational differences, as well as opposing world views and parenting styles within the dynamic of a modern family in 2020,” a synopsis for the show reads.

Alyssa Milano And Tony Danza Confirm ‘Who’s The Boss’ Reboot

Milano has confirmed that the reboot is indeed happening, issuing the following statement to Entertainment Tonight:

Who’s the Boss? was a very progressive show. A divorced mom, who owned her own business and had a free-spirited mother who made sex jokes, who hires a single dad to be her housekeeper. We were really a modern family in the 80’s. We look forward to making the sequel as thoughtful, smart and relevant to the times today. And make people laugh at the same time.”

Sony left the door open for Judith Light, who played Angela Bower, and Danny Pintauro, who played Jonathan, to reprise their roles saying that they “are supportive of the new series. The cast remains very close to this day and the hope is to find creative ways to work them and their characters into the show.”

The fifth member of the cast, actress Katherine Helmond,  tragically passed away in February of 2019 at the age of 89. Needless to say, the sitcom won’t be the same without feisty Mona.

Alyssa Milano Gets Her Big Break

This is quite a break for Milano. The 47-year-old has arguably become better known for her radical leftwing activism than for her acting in recent years.

Given how political Milano’s life is these days, fans of “Who’s The Boss” can definitely expect this reboot to have a more politically liberal slant than the original. Especially with her the helm as an executive producer.

Hopefully, Danza and Lear can keep Milano in check and not allow her to overly-politicize this beloved sitcom.
