Jorge Masvidal

It’s not looking like Jorge Masvidal will get his wish: an immediate rematch with Kamaru Usman. But it looks like ‘Gamebred’ is still pushing for that to happen, and this year.

Masvidal talks timeline for next bout

Ever since Masvidal dropped a decision loss to the welterweight champ last month, he’s been calling for another bout with Usman. According to ‘Gamebred’, things will be different if he has a full training camp to prepare.

Well, while talking to ESPN recently, the 35-year-old was asked about his next bout, and Masvidal said this (quotes via MMA Mania).

“Hopefully, December/November,” said Masvidal, while referring to the fact it was reported Usman may have broken his nose in their bout.

“My opponent has a broken nose, he’s going to be out for a couple days due to me. He does have a broken nose.

I think next week we’re going to find out just how long he’s out for and then we’ll start determining who will be the next fight and where.”

But who will Masvidal fight?

Although Masvidal has been pushing for a rematch with Usman, it doesn’t sound like that’s the UFC’s plan.

Dana White has repeatedly said that Gilbert Burns is next for Usman. Further, although Masvidal didn’t have a full camp for his title fight, the bout didn’t leave the masses buzzing.
