Ellen DeGeneres’ Producers Panic – Say ‘It Would Break A Lot Of Hearts’ To Cancel The Show

Over the past few weeks, dozens of current and former employees of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” have come forward to claim that host Ellen DeGeneres has long turned a blind eye to racism, intimidation, and even sexual misconduct on the set of the popular daytime talk show. The resulting chaos has Ellen’s producers scrambling.

Insiders reported that the producers just held a Zoom call with staffers on Monday to address everything that has happened. This signals the show’s producers are effectively in panic mode.

Producers Hold Call With “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Staffers

An insider told US Weekly that executive producers Andy Lassner, Mary Connelly, and Derek Westervelt held the call on Monday, telling employees of the show that they want them to “have fun at work.”

“They said a lot of [the claims are] true and a lot of it is not true,” the source explained. “They said we are handling everything [and] things will be very different now. … A show that brings so much happiness and fun, it should be a happy show to work on.”

Staffers reportedly “voiced some concerns,” and “called out” producers during the call. In return, staffers were assured that despite media reports that Ellen wants to quit, the are no immediate plans to end the show.

“The producers ultimately said you all still have a job here and you will all get paid, however that may be,” the insider said. “They said Ellen [DeGeneres] is not giving up and the show will go on. … That woman brings so much joy to people that it would break a lot of hearts to stop doing this show. It was a pep talk and made some staffers feel better.”

Ellen DeGeneres Issues Apology Memo

The Emmy-award winning host apologized to her staffers in a memo last week after more reports came out of misconduct behind the scenes of her talk show.

However, Ellen was slammed afterwards for trying to shift the blame rather than take ownership in her apology.

“As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done,” she wrote in the memo. “Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”

Sources Say She Wants Out

Despite what producers said, recent reports indicate that Ellen DeGeneres has had it.

“She feels she can’t go on and the only way to recover her personal brand from this is to shut down the show,” an insider at Telepictures told Daily Mail. “The truth is she knew what was going on, it’s her show. The buck stops with her. She can blame every executive under the sun – but Ellen is ultimately the one to blame.”

“Inside Telepictures we’ve had enough of her. She is a phony who does not practice what she preaches,” the source added. “The behavior of her show executives has been appalling, but [Ellen] is no better. In fact, she is the worst. It’s outrageous that she is trying to pretend that this is all a shock to her. The fish rots from the head, and Ellen is the head.”
