Fans should recognize some of the names. Three come from previous Street Fighter games while one comes from another franchise.
- Dan Hibiki (Street Fighter Alpha)
- Oro (Street Fighter III: New Generation)
- Rose (Street Fighter Alpha)
- Akira Kazama (Rival Schools)
As mentioned, they won’t be alone. Another will round out the DLC pack. It ‘s currently unknown yet who will be the 5th fighter, but it’s always fun to speculate.
According to the developers, these fighters were chosen due to their pre-existing story relationships with characters who have already appeared in the game.
In relation to the main cast, Dan is a long-time friend of Blanka and Sakura.
Oro and Dhalsim share a friendly and respectful relationship with one another.
Rose is considered by Meant to be her ‘Master’, and Akira faced off against Sakura in Rival Schools.
Dan Hibiki is slated to be the first fighter released, with a given release window of Winter 2020.
In their stream, they also revealed a mysterious “new battle mechanic” that they spoke little of. Each is set to release incrementally through 2021.
You can see the time chart below to get an idea of who and when they will come out.
As you can see, fighters won’t be alone, costumes, and stages will be released with each fighter as they’re added to the roaster.
