Silva – Hall bout reportedly set for October 31st

Following the latest Dana White Contender Series card on Tuesday, White told the media that Silva will fight on October 31st. The UFC President said they’re working on finalizing a bout with Hall, but that the fight’s not signed yet.

Since then, however, Silva’s manager Jorge Guimaraes confirmed to ESPN that the bout is set.

The 45-year-old Silva (34-10) hasn’t fought since May, 2019, when he incurred a leg injury in a stoppage loss to Jared Cannonier.

Hall (15-9), who is 36, recorded a split decision win over Antônio Carlos Júnior in September.

Silva’s final fight?

Recently Silva has said he plans to complete his UFC contract, which has two bouts left. But, while speaking about the legend Tuesday, White said this (quotes via MMA Fighting).

“We’re working on a fight for him coming up soon here,” White said. “He will fight again.

“I met with his managers the other day, this will be his last fight. I think he’s going to retire.”

“That’s not our business,” White said, while talking about Silva’s potential retirement. “That’s up to him. Let him do this the way he wants to do it.”

But, Silva’s aforementioned manager, Guimares, said nothing’s been decided about Silva’s retirement, while talking to ESPN.

“We like the fight, and we’ll see how he does. The man is 45 years old, but he’s always in good shape, always training. I was at his house the other day, and he was training well. He’s lost a lot of weight, and he’s been eating healthy.”

So, reading between the lines here, one could conclude that if Silva loses to Hall, he’ll call it quits on his stories career.
