It is now official, as Jorge Masvidal steps in to replace Gilbert Burns at UFC 251.
Masvidal vs. Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title will headline Saturday night’s card from “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.
Burns, the top contender, was forced out after a positive coronavirus test. He is now resting in anticipation of returning to challenge the winner between Masvidal and Usman.
“Finally at home quarantined in my room! Just with a heavy headache! Resting and recovering!” Burns posted on social media.

Masvidal, who has been very outspoken in recent months regarding his contract with the UFC, is coming off a win over Nate Diaz. He claimed the “BMF” title with that victory.
