Paige VanZant joining WWE

The WWE already has a number of UFC fighters on its roster. However, a new one could be added as Paige VanZant is considering joining the WWE.

Expired Contract And Recent Loss

Paige VanZant took a loss against Amanda Ribas

After a defeat in the UFC, Paige VanZant is considering a career move. Unfortunately, her last UFC fight against Amanda Ribas is probably how she will end her UFC career.

On the flipside, the legendary UFC fighter is considering another career.

Only this time, she is considering joining the WWE.

Interestingly, this statement comes after VanZant’s contract with UFC expired. In addition to that, the fighter has been very vocal about her lack of payment in the fighting promotion.

By joining the WWE, VanZant is looking for better pay and a new challenge. She would be an interesting addition to the current roster to say the least.

Lack Of Money

Paige VanZant is ready to earn more

In a recent explosive interview, VanZant claimed she earned more from Instagram posts than her UFC fights. Obviously, this did not sit well with the promotion’s owner Dana White.

Going to the WWE would undoubtedly be a payment upgrade for Paige VanZant. That being said, it remains to be seen if WWE still has interest in her.

Dave Meltzer claims that WWE was interested in VanZant before. In fact, he states that the company wanted to acquire the fighter for SummerSlam several years back.

If the WWE is still interested, they could acquire VanZant in the nearby future. However, it’s anyone’s guess where she would end up.

Of course, the WWE has a love hate relationship with its female UFC fighters on the main roster. From Rousey to Baszler, the stories are quite different depending who you look at.

Vince Not Fond Of Female UFC Fighters?

While Ronda Rousey had great success in the WWE, this does not apply to all female UFC fighters. Ronda Rousey was known far beyond the UFC, which undoubtedly benefited her.

So, let us look at some of the recent UFC fighters on the WWE roster.

One prime example is Shayna Baszler.

Baszler did amazing in NXT, but faded quickly once she arrived on the main roster. It was clear the wrestler did not get many opportunities, even though she already proved herself on the black and gold brand.

A similar path was set for Sonya Deville, who took a backseat to Mandy Rose. Fortunately, the former UFC fighter fought hard to become noticed and is getting more opportunities now.

Being a former UFC fighter does not translate to WWE success. While it is an obvious transition for many, the transition is not exactly easy.

If Paige does end up in the WWE, we hope she gets some decent opportunities. I would prefer to see her in NXT for the time being.

NXT would allow Paige to build her character and find her wrestling persona. Putting her straight on the main roster would be a mistake.

And then there is the lack of serious women’s division storylines and competition on the main roster. Until that is resolved, NXT would be the much better choice.
