Ellen’s Show Scrambles For Cover As Investigation Into Show’s ‘Culture of Fear’ Begins

Ellen DeGeneres has made being kind her hallmark, but repeated accusations from people who have worked on her show are claiming that is a myth. Now, WarnerMedia has reportedly launched an investigation into mounting accusations of racism, unjust termination, and creating a toxic work environment might bring Ellen’s house of cards crashing down.

Ellen Show Under Investigation For “Culture of Fear”

The show has a “do as I say, not as I do mentality” when it comes to the kindness Ellen promotes on air.

Buzzfeed recently reported there is a “culture of fear” on the set of  “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Ten former and one current employee, all who wish to remain anonymous, dished the dirt about what goes on behind the scenes.

They said they were fired after taking time off for bereavement days to attend family funerals or medical leave. One former employee claims she left due to continued racist comments from management.

“That ‘be kind’ bullshit only happens when the cameras are on. It’s all for show,” a former employee shared with Buzzfeed. “I know they give money to people and help them out, but it’s for show.”

The cries from these employees have gotten so loud that they can no longer be ignored.

WarnerMedia has launched an investigation into these claims about what is going on at the award-winning show.

Who’s Really To Blame?

The executive producers are trying to shoulder the blame instead of having it lean on Ellen. They claim that Ellen has put them in charge of running the show so they bear the responsibility for how employees are treated.

“For the record, the day to day responsibility of the Ellen show is completely on us,” Executive producers Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner said in a statement. “We take all of this very seriously and we realize, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better.”

However, one former employee said:

“If she wants to have her own show and have her name on the show title, she needs to be more involved to see what’s going on. I think the executive producers surround her and tell her, ‘Things are going great, everybody’s happy,’ and she just believes that, but it’s her responsibility to go beyond that.”

What Will WarnerMedia Do?

Who knows what will come from this investigation. It’s hard to believe WarnerMedia will tank its own long-running show. The show is in its 17th season and garners 2.5 million viewers every day. Are they really going to sacrifice it to cancel culture?

Ultimately, viewers need to remember they are watching a well-edited and rehearsed program every time they turn on the television.

Often the persona that is presented is not reality. Nobody is perfect, especially people on the other side of your television screen.
