The “devastating breakdown” of Prince William and Harry’s relationship is being laid out in a new book by royal biographer Robert Lacey. Lacey was “astonished” by what he found when researching how the two brothers’ relationship unraveled for his “Battle of Brothers” book.
New “Battle of Brothers” Book Explores William And Harry’s Relationship
The royal biographer is also a consultant on the hit Netflix show “The Crown“. Lacey is preparing for the October release of his new book “Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Friendship and the Feuds.”
The book will delve into “the unique and complex relationship” between the brothers while also putting it into a historical context, according to Fox News.
The book synopsis states: “Much reported on but little understood, Diana’s boys have lived under constant scrutiny since birth.”

The synopsis added:

Lacey Was ‘Astonished’ By What He Learned
Lacey went on to say in a press release that he was stunned when he began researching the book. And, he it was sometimes emotional for him to write.
“I have been astonished and sometimes moved to tears by the fresh details and insights I have discovered in researching this story of family conflict,” Lacey said. “It has been both enthralling and painful to trace this drama through the memories of close witnesses and some of the people most intimately involved.”
“These two brothers – once inseparable and now separated by much more than mere distance – have been acting out the contradictions that go back into their childhoods and even before that: into their parents’ ill-fated marriage,” he added. “We have seen conflicts between heir and spare in every recent generation of the royal family — but nothing so profound as this.”

The Cause Of William And Harry’s Rift
William and Harry were thought to be incredibly close until the younger brother began dating Meghan Markle. The rift seems to have started when William warned his brother that his relationship with Meghan was moving too fast.
Since Harry married Meghan Markle, that probably didn’t sit too well with William based on his concerns. There also seems to be some sort of resentment between Meghan and William’s wife Kate.
“William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly,” royal expert Kate Nicholl recently claimed. “And being close to Harry, you know, probably the only person close enough to say to Harry, ‘This seems to be moving quickly. Are you sure?’ And I think what was meant as well intended brotherly advice just riled Harry.”
“Harry is hugely protective of Meghan,” she continued. “He saw that as criticism, he interpreted that as his brother not really being behind this marriage, this union. And I don’t think things have been quite right ever since.”
Harry Addresses Feud
Harry himself infamously addressed his feud with William last year in the ITV documentary “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.”
“Part of this role and part of this job, this family, being under the pressure that it’s under, inevitably stuff happens,” he said at the time. “But look, we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I’ll always be there for him and I know he’ll always be there for me.”
It’s heartbreaking to see that William and Harry have had difficulty getting along over the last few years.
Hopefully, the two can find common ground again and let bygones be bygones at some point in the future.
Life is too short to hold grudges. Especially when it comes to family.
