Frankie Edgar is scheduled to make his bantamweight debut on July 15th, and the former lightweight champ apparently doesn’t have too much more weight to cut.
The legendary fighter is booked to face Pedro Munhoz at the upcoming, Fight Island card. Recently Edgar’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, posted the image and comments below.
This legend @frankieedgar former UFC lightweight champ , former featherweight #1 contender , 146 lbs today , 10 lbs away from making his bantamweight debut
The upcoming bout is a huge one for Edgar, as the 38-year-old’s coming off losses to Chan Sung Jung and Brian Ortega, and he’s hoping to make another title run at 135. A third straight loss, at this juncture of his career, would be a big setback for the star.
If Edgar wins, and impressively, he could jump right into the title shot mix.
Here is the complete line-up for the upcoming card, which will take place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
