Dan Hooker absorbed considerable punishment in his epic war with Dustin Poirier at UFC Vegas 4. But, the lightweight sounded pretty upbeat and in good spirits, following his loss to the former interim champ.

Hooker shares out video and statement

As most people expected would be the case, Saturday’s bout between Poirier and Hooker was a thrilling and bloody battle. Although Hooker also punished Poirier with strikes and scored four takedowns, ‘The Diamond’ out struck the New Zealand fighter by a 208 to 182 margin and received the decision win.

Following his war with Poirier, Hooker shared out the video and comments below via Instagram.

“Quick message for the people that support me. Credit to Poirier better man on the night, no regrets, no excuses. Minor setbacks ain’t a major for me. ? #teamhangman #rideordieonly”

What’s next for Hooker?

Since Hooker was coming off three straight wins heading into the contest, and his last was over fellow contender, Paul Felder, there’s no question he’ll face another top lightweight next. Further, on account of the fact his bout with Poirier was a fight of the year candidate, Hooker’s stock hasn’t taken a hit.

So, perhaps a bout with Charles Oliveira? Or Diego Ferreira might materialize? Who knows, maybe a rematch with Felder could get signed?

During the broadcast, Felder tweeted out that he’d be interested in returning to the cage for a fight with either Poirier or Hooker.

Tony Ferguson is another possibility, but, you have to wonder if the UFC might look at having Poirier face ‘El Cucuy’ next.
