The UFC is billing Saturday’s UFC 249 event as the most stacked card of 2020, and with featherweights Jeremy Stephens and Calvin Kattar on it, they might be right.
Stephens and Kattar are very exciting fighters looking to make an impact as they step back into action from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
The ESPN+ pay-per-view main card features Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje colliding for the interim UFC lightweight belt, while in the co-main event Henry Cejudo defends his bantamweight title against former champion Dominick Cruz.
A veteran of both MMA and the UFC, Jeremy Stephens will be competing for the 47th time in his career.
Recently, though, Stephens has been stuck in neutral. He dropped a pair of bouts to former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Zabit Magomedsharipov before a no-contest with Yair Rodriguez in 2019.
The following month, he lost a decision to Rodriguez, falling to 28-17 overall. Still, you know Stephens has power as evident by his 19 career knockout wins.
His last victory was such, as he finished Josh Emmett in 2018.
The 32-year-old Calvin Kattar shares many similarities with Stephens, including a loss to Magomedsharipov. That came in his last bout, which was back in November.
Prior to the setback, Kattar had scored back-to-back finishes over Ricardo Lamas and Chris Fishgold. He stands 20-4 overall with nine knockout and three more submission wins to his resume.
