Calvin Kattar returned to the win column tonight at UFC 249, by stopping the always tough, Jeremy Stephens.

Round one

Stephens came out as the aggressor and fired some big shots. Stephens flurried in and finished with a headkick that was blocked. Kattar started to pick up the volume but Stephens continued to move forward. Stephens dug to the body with a big right. Stephens fired in another leg kick after Kattar fired one of his own. Kattar stuck a nice jab. Stephens winged in a hard right hook but ate another jab. Kattar’s left calf took another punishing kick but then he tagged Stephens with a booming right. Both men fired hard punches before the round ended.

Round two

Stephens pressured to begin round two, but Kattar planted a hard right not long in. The latter landed more leg kicks so that both men, had marked up lead legs. Kattar started to score more often with his hands and Stephens briefly clinched up. Moments later, Kattar floored Stephens with a massive right elbow, and as he fired a couple more shots from above, the fight was stopped. Stephens was opened up badly in the final flurry. Huge win for Kattar.
