Tony Ferguson

Following Tony Ferguson’s stoppage loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 this past Saturday, Conor McGregor piled on “El Cucuy’s” performance. He also argued that Ferguson wasn’t as good as people thought.

Well, those comments have gotten back to Ferguson, as he’s responded to the former champ, and a Twitter battle could be on.

McGregor’s initial jab at Ferguson

Ferguson faced Gaethje in the headliner of UFC 249, and his 12 fight winning streak was ended by the dangerous lightweight. Although Ferguson kept coming throughout much of the fight, he ate numerous, punishing shots from Gaethje, and the fight was stopped in round five.

A couple of days after the memorable bout, McGregor tweeted out this regarding Ferguson.

“I love Tony. We represented him amazingly at Paradigm sports and were betrayed for a promise of a baseball contract.

But frame and preparation here was just embarrassing. His methods and conversation are humorous/enjoyable but he was never the level perceived. Although tough.

Ferguson responds to “Chump – Champ” McGregor

Well, not surprisingly, Ferguson wasn’t about to let those comments slide. Since then, “El Cucuy” fired back these comments at McGregor (warning: graphic language).

@TheNotoriousMMA
You’re Still My Bitch. You Never Represented Me According To Audie,..

If So Then You Worked For Me, & Withheld Money From Me. Focus On Putting The Bottle Down Kid.

@BallengeeGroup
Is Gold Standard, Must Be Hard Watching From The Sidelines. Keep It Up Chump -Champ

And what did Conor have to say about this? The former champ tweeted back this.

Shut up and thank the nurses and doctors that plated back up your skull and stitched all those gashes up.
It’s international nurses day!

And learn how to box!

Fumbling over your feet like a fucking Buffoon. We’d be embarrassed to represent that at Paradigm Sports.
GPizzle ?

Now, due to this exchanged, there’s already talk about whether this could lead to a showdown between the two. But right now, that seems kind of unlikely, as McGregor’s been pushing for a fight with Gaethje or Nurmagomedov.

Could the UFC come to McGregor and say a win over Tony will deliver a title shot? Sure. But, the UFC could say that about any fight right now.

Dana White stated that McGregor had earned another shot at the title after he beat Donald Cerrone, who had lost two in a row before fighting the star.

So, would McGregor sign on to fighting someone who just lost decisively, once again?

It’s also worth noting that due to the damage Ferguson took in the fight, he likely will be sidelined for a while. McGregor has been driving for a fight in July,
