Rosie O’Donnell Says ‘The View’ Forced Her To Stay Silent About Bill Cosby’s Sexual Harassment

Rosie O’Donnell dropped a bombshell on viewers this week by claiming that disgraced comedian Bill Cosby sexually harassed a producer on her daytime talk show, “The Rosie O’Donnell Show”. The openly liberal TV host went on to shockingly allege that she was barred from talking about the incident during her time as cohost on “The View”. Even when the panel discussed the allegations against Cosby.

Rosie O’Donnell Claims Bill Cosby Sexually Harassed Her Producer

While appearing on “Watch What Happens Live”, Rosie told host Andy Cohen that she was not surprised when the many allegations against Cosby came to light.

The former comedic legend had visited Rosie’s talk show many times during its run from 1996-2002.

“OK, well, I’m going to tell you the story about what happened to a staff member on our show,” she said when asked about Cosby.

“Very tall, like, six-foot-tall, larger woman, very great producer. She was assigned to do his ‘Mystery Guest.’ He [Cosby] was there as the mystery guest. Now, newsflash I knew who the mystery guest was every time. I just was acting along with it.”

Rosie admitted that she always knew who the mystery guest was because she does not like surprises. And she also felt that she could then fake a more interesting reaction.

However, the fact that she knew the identity of the mystery guest meant that the person needed some coaching before going out onstage. So the female producer went in to the green room to prep Bill Cosby.

“So, in the room, the green room, the producer goes in and she’s talking and saying to Bill Cosby, ‘You know, she’s not going to know that it’s you’ and he said ‘All she has to do is put her hand right here’ and he put his hand near his penis, ‘And she’ll know it’s me,’” O’Donnell recalled.

The female producer, shocked by Cosby’s vulgar reply and gesture, reportedly left crying. In fact, Rosie claims the situation so problematic that they had to send in a male producer.

The male producer then visited Cosby in the green room to explain what was and was not “appropriate” behavior.

Rosie O’Donnell Calls Out ‘The View’

Rosie O’Donnell then revealed that she tried to bring up what had happened many times when “The View” panel was set to discuss Bill Cosby, but show producers would not let her do so.

“On ‘The View,’ they would not discuss it,” she said. “Every time I tried to bring it up, it became a little fight.”

Notably, at the time, Rosie O’Donnell was the only panel host to side against Bill Cosby when the panel discussed the allegations against him. She squared off against Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, and Nicole Wallace.

It’s interesting now to consider if Rosie’s views were fueled by her experience? But that she couldn’t say that under gag order by “The View”.

Given the fact that “The View” portrays itself as a show that advocates for women, this is particularly damning.

The idea that the ABC talk show would cover up for a powerful man over a female victim is mind-boggling.

Bill Cosby Fires Back

Cosby’s spokesman Andrew Wyatt has since responded by blasting O’Donnell and denying her claims.

“The multi-million dollar question is: Why now?” Wyatt told USA Today, arguing that O’Donnell only brought up the “false” allegation to bring attention to herself.

This story doesn’t really look good for anyone involved.

Rosie’s account seems to line up with many other allegations against Cosby. But why bring it up now?

Some might think it looks a bit like a desperate cry for attention from a celebrity who may feel overshadowed by the coronavirus pandemic.

It also exposes the hypocrisy that many of us have seen on the left-leaning talk show “The View”.

Like much of the rest of the Democratic Party, “The View” must not actually care about female victims of sexual assault.

Unless, of course, those victims are accusing a powerful Republican man who can then be taken down.

Had “The View” allowed Rosie O’Donnell to expose Bill Cosby years ago, they could have contributed positively to the movement against sexual harassment in Hollywood.

But, instead, “The View” chose to use kid gloves with a powerful celebrity. And swept an uncomfortable topic under the rug.

Ultimately, “The View” was more interested in their ratings and reputation than telling the full story. Like so many in the mainstream media, they keep the full story from the public.

Just another example of Hollywood hypocrisy.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
