Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey continues to buck the typical Hollywood stereotype with his down-to-earth, guy-next-door antics. Whether it’s standing up for gun rights, traditional marriage, or even the values of George W. Bush, this Texas native is just full of surprises. In his latest non-Hollywood move, Matthew McConaughey joined in a game of virtual bingo with senior citizens quarantined in his home state of Texas.

Matthew McConaughey Hosts Bingo For Seniors

Fox News reported that McConaughey hosted a virtual bingo event for seniors at The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living in Round Rock, giving the lonely older folks an experience that they will never forget.

“We got Charles… with the iPad up high….we got two winners!” the Academy Award winner can be seen yelling in a video as the seniors smile from ear to ear.

“During a time when we are all working to make lemonade out of lemons, we are so humbled that Matthew took the time to play our favorite game with us. As Matthew would say, let’s turn this red light into a green light!” the assisted living facility wrote on Facebook.

It’s amazing to see this Hollywood A-lister just hamming it up with the The Enclave’s residents. And what a great example for McConaughey’s 3 children who join him on the video!

The Enclave Invited Matthew McConaughey Last September

Last September, residents and employees at The Enclave invited McConaughey to join them for bingo.

One resident even jokingly said in the video invite “you’d be a whole lot cooler if you did”.

This, of course, was a reference to something that McConaughey’s character Wooderson famously said in the cult classic movie Dazed and Confused.

Little did they know that the 2014 Oscar winner would take them up on the invite. And what better time than while everyone is holed up under a stay-at-home order!

McConaughey is currently quarantining at home in Texas with his family. While he could not visit the facility in person, the actor joining by video was certainly the next best thing.

Molly Davis Nedley, the sales director at The Enclave, explained that staffers have not been able to interact with residents as they normally would due to the pandemic, “so we have been doing everything possible to uplift them virtually.”

“This was a wish come true! The residents absolutely loved seeing Matthew and his family and enjoyed hearing him talk about what he’s doing to get through this crisis,” Nedley told KEYE-TV. “It gave them hope and was the boost that they needed to get through this lonely, challenging time.”

Praise On Social Media

Social media users have been praising McConaughey for taking the time to brighten up the seniors’ days.

“Alright alright alright! Best Shelter In Place video guest ever!” one user commented.

Another user added, “That’s fantastic and hilarious! I love this idea! I know they enjoyed it, it’s REALLY hard on the Seniors right now!”

These days, it often seems like the entertainment industry is full of narcissists concerned with only their own fame and fortune.

So much so that Ryan Reynolds felt compelled to call out celebrity’s tone deaf and self-involved tweets amid this pandemic.

It’s so nice to see that McConaughey is a good guy in real life who is willing to help others in their time of need!
