As it stands right now, it looks like Jon Jones’ fighting career isn’t going to be sidelined by his latest legal troubles. So, who will the UFC light-heavyweight champ face next? Jan Blachowicz is insisting that he should battle for the belt, including if Jones is stripped of the title.

Blachowicz comments on Jones’ latest arrest

After Jones was arrested in Albuquerque earlier this month, and charged with driving under the influence, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container, many people believed his career could be put on hold. The reason being that Jones has had legal troubles in the past, including a hit-and-run incident. But, more recently it was reported that Jones has reached a plea deal, which will ensure he doesn’t do any jail time.

Well, before word of that deal was reported, Blachowicz spoke with the Polish website MMA Rocks, and the contender had this to say about Jones’ latest arrest (quote via MMA Junkie by translation).

“I know they let him out of the arrest, so we’ll see how the situation goes. Obviously, the guy can’t manage the success he has, and that’s the main problem because he thinks he can do anything until something happens.

“Life is unfair, (but) this is how the world works. The law is for rich people. We can’t do anything about it. We can only complain, but it is what it is. The only thing I can do is do my job in the octagon. It’s not my role to be a judge. Jon is going big time when it comes to the unnecessary gun usage involved. However, maybe the hit-and-run with the pregnant woman was even worse than this.”

Ya. Blachowicz certainly isn’t the only person to argue that the law works differently for working-class people versus the rich. Now it remains to be seen if this latest incident prompts a real change in Jones, and this is the last of his legal troubles.

Blachowicz repeats call for title shot

Before Jones’ arrest, and before the coronavirus outbreak, there was lots of talk about whether “Bones” would rematch Dominick Reyes next, or fight Blachowicz. A lot of people scored Jones’ bout with Reyes in February for the challenger. But, Blachowicz put himself into the title shot conversation shortly after, by knocking out Corey Anderson.

While talking about his title shot aspirations, the Polish fighter said the following.

“Everyone is trying to make his way to the belt, but these guys already had a chance and they didn’t take it,” he said of his two fellow contenders. “Now they can rest some, or they can fight between the two of them. I am the next in line, and nobody can get in line in front of me. They can just fight to see who’s going to be fighting me next, when I’m defending the belt (or) if anything happens and they take the belt from Jon.”

When the UFC is up-and-running again, it’s going to be interesting to see who gets tapped to fight Jones. Who do you think the UFC should go with? Reyes or Blachowiczs?
