Conor McGregor Posts Video Clip, Says New Striking Includes “Shots They Don’t Understand to be Shots”

Conor McGregor dropped jaws at UFC 246, not only by finishing Donald Cerrone in less than 60 seconds, but in the manner he did it too. More recently the former UFC champ shared out some thoughts on his new striking approach, which delivered him the quick win.

McGregor breaks down UFC 246 win

McGregor buzzed the MMA world in January by rocking Cerrone with several shoulder strikes just moments into the fight, before he finished the rugged vet with a series of follow-up blows.

Shoulder strikes have been used in countless fights in the past, but it was rare to see a fighter take so much punishment from the blows.

Well, recently McGregor posted the video clip and comments below, regarding his quick win over Cerrone.

Lately atop my striking, I’ve been striking them where they believe they can’t be struck also. And with shots they don’t understand to be shots.

Look at the range of limbs and bone joints I strike with here alone.

The hip. The bone of the clavicle, the infamous collar bone! The knee. The foot. The fist (both)
A lovely array.

That will be all kids now take down your notes and your homework tonight is… enter a cold bath. As cold as it possibly is, you do not need ice.

Get in the water and then dip your head under fully and until you need to come up for air. Repeat this over and over until you can stay under for 2 minutes fully.

Then Get out. Look at yourself in the mirror, And give your self two full clatters into the teeth. You silly novices, back to bed. Just kidding.

Respect to all the students of the game. Always remember that if it moves, you are focused on the wrong thing.

Stay ready, and most importantly, stay in school. @mcgregorfast

Cerrone’s performance versus McGregor’s

Now, yes, not everyone was impressed with McGregor’s victory. Some folks, including ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, thought what transpired was really the result of Cerrone’s underperforming.

But, even if you think Cerrone may have been caught up in the moment, and caved under pressure, you have to admit McGregor’s ability to generate so much force with the shoulder strikes were impressive.

All this aside, not it remains to be seen when and who McGregor fights next. Prior to the postponement of several UFC events, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it had been reported the UFC was looking at having McGregor fight Justin Gaethje in the summer.
