Jane Fonda endorses Bernie Sanders for climate change

Hollywood star Jane Fonda, infamously nicknamed Hanoi Jane for her efforts protesting against the Vietnam War, has thrown her support behind none other than Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Fonda publicly endorsed the self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist in the 2020 presidential race because of his radical position on climate change.

Jane Fonda Endorses Bernie Sanders

Fox News reported that Fonda officially endorsed Sanders before her latest Fire Drill Friday protest against climate change in Los Angeles, California.

“We have to get a climate president in office, and there’s only one right now, and that’s Bernie Sanders,” she told USA Today before the rally. “So, I’m indirectly saying I believe you have to support the climate candidate.”

While speaking at the rally, Fonda blasted the fossil fuel industry and the “small bunch of white men” getting rich off of it.

“There’s a small bunch of white men getting really rich while they’re destroying the health of the people like the people you heard from. And this is just the tip of the iceberg,” she said. “And guess what, it’s happening all across the country and all across the world. And so we have to say ‘no more fossil fuel!’ Windmills are great and solar panels are great and Priuses are great and we have to do all that but it’s not going to matter if we don’t stop the drilling and the franking and the exporting and the refining of fossil fuels.”

Fonda Dodges Prison

Fonda has spent the past few months protesting against climate change on Fridays. As a result, the 82-year-old has been arrested five times in the process. She managed to avoid prison and doing community service through a deal her lawyers cut with the judge in which the charges will be dropped if Fonda avoids jail for three months.

Fonda said that she plans to get arrested again as soon as the three month window closes.

To Her Haters

Jane Fonda was asked what she thinks about those who have been critical about the way she is protesting. To that she replied, “Those people are always going to attack that way. The best way to attack a celebrity is to say, ‘Here she is, doing it for their own glory or promotion or whatever.'”

“It doesn’t matter,” the actress continued. “Those people don’t matter. It doesn’t matter. Good people know. I could be doing a lot of other things besides getting out there. And I’ll be there if it’s snowing, raining, sleeting, hurricane, it doesn’t matter. I’m going to be there.”

Fonda has shown little respect for our country and what it stands for over the years. Dating all the way back to her Hanoi Jane days.

So it’s no surprise that she would endorse the Socialist candidate. Furthermore, an endorsement from her is not something to win over the American people. Thus, in the end, her endorsement – much like her protests – will accomplish nothing.
