UFC Norfolk

Thanks to a missed weigh-in, Deiveson Figueiredo failed to cash in big on his performance Saturday night.

Figueiredo weighed in over two pounds heavy on Friday, leaving only Joseph Benavidez as eligible to win the vacant UFC flyweight title at UFC Norfolk live on ESPN+.

Benavidez, though, was stopped in the second round by a flurry from Figueiredo, forcing the referee to stop the bout. The win did push his record to 18-1 overall including three consecutive victories.

Also, Benavidez was again denied at becoming UFC champion. He had failed in two prior attempts to best Demetrious Johnson for the belt.

In the co-main event, Felicia Spencer stopped Zarah Fairn in the first round, positioning herself as the next potential contender to the featherweight title.

However, Megan Anderson also staked her own claim to that spot with a first round knockout of Norma Dumont.

Magomed Ankalaev finished Ion Cutelaba and Grant Dawson claimed a submission victory over Darrick Minner in other main card action from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

This marked the second event for the UFC in Norfolk and first since 2017 when Dustin Poirier met Anthony Pettis.

On the prelims, Kyler Phillips, Brendan Allen, Marcin Tybura, Luis Pena, Jordan Griffin, Spike Carlyle and Sean Brady were all winners.

Griffin scored a submission and Carlyle won by TKO.
