Due to some of the surprising movement from Diego Sanchez at UFC Rio Rancho, and the corner advice he received from his new coach, Joshua Fabia, the latter’s been in the news. Well, that isn’t changing, as now it’s being reported that Fabia warned officials Sanchez might use a technique like the ‘Stone Cold Stunner’ against Michael Chiesa.
Fabia reportedly warned the Nevada Commission Sanchez could seriously injury or kill Chiesa
Sanchez faced Chiesa at UFC 239 last July and lost the fight via unanimous decision. MMA Junkie is reporting, however, that sources say Fabia warned Nevada officials before the fight he had been working on a technique with Sanchez, which could seriously injure or kill Chiesa.
The School of Self-Awareness founder was reportedly asked to demonstrate the move, and according to the sources, he demonstrated something very similar to the ‘Stone Cold Stunner’. If you don’t follow pro-wrestling it’s a move where you place your opponent’s head on your shoulders, before dropping to the floor while holding them. In theory, possibly breaking the person’s neck. Fabia apparently said he learned the technique while working with paramilitary groups in South America.
The report goes on to say that Fabia reportedly told officials that the moment Sanchez secured the ‘choke’, the fight should be immediately halted, so that Chiesa didn’t get hurt. Officials met with UFC brass to discuss what Fabia had said, and it was determined that the likelihood of Sanchez being able to pull the technique off was unlikely. The Commission also reportedly reminded Sanchez and Fabia that the fight is part of a professional sporting event and that a fighter’s safety is paramount.
So, ya. One would think this news is only going to spike discussion and debate about Fabia’s coaching methods further.

It should be noted, however that Sanchez has been defending Fabia big time, since his DQ win over Michel Pereira last weekend. Recently the eccentric and rugged fighter shared out this on Instagram:
