Jimmy Kimmel mocks Mike Pence over coronavirus

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel sank to a new low last night when he used the Christian faith of Vice President Mike Pence to mock his ability to handle the coronavirus epidemic.

Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Mike Pence’s Faith

Kimmel seems to think that Pence’s Christian principles will cause him to fumble after President Donald Trump put him in charge of the handling of the potential coronavirus outbreak.

“Why is Mike Pence in charge?” Kimmel asked on Wednesday night’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmy Live!” on ABC. “What is his plan to stop the virus? Abstinence? I think Trump might be trying to kill him. I really do.”

Not stopping there, the comedian turned late night host crudely accused Pence of kissing up to Trump.

“I hope the virus isn’t spread by kissing ass, because if it is, they’ve got the wrong guy,” Kimmel said.

Liberals Slam Mike Pence For Abstinence Comments

Jimmy Kimmel isn’t the first liberal to mock Pence on these issues. The Left slammed Pence for his handling of an HIV outbreak during his time as governor of Indiana. As well as his past comments about abstinence.

Back in 2002, Pence told CNN host Wolf Blitzer that it was “sad” that then-Secretary of State Colin Powell was promoting condom use.

“The truth is that Colin Powell had an opportunity here to reaffirm this president’s commitment to abstinence as the best choice for our young people, and he chose not to do that in the first instance, but —  and so I think it’s very sad,’ he said. “Frankly, condoms are a very, very poor protection against sexually transmitted diseases. And in that sense, Wolf, this was — the secretary of state may be inadvertently misleading millions of young people and endangering lives.”

Mike Pence Praises Abstinence

In this same interview, Pence talked about abstinence being the best form of safe sex.

“I just simply believe the only truly safe sex, Wolf, as the president believes, is no sex,” he said. “And we ought to, with leaders of the stature of the secretary of state, we ought to be sending a message to kids across the country and the opportunity had across the world that abstinence is the best choice for young people.”

Using these Christian principles to attack Vice President Pence is both shameful and ridiculous.

First of all, coronavirus is not considered a sexually transmitted disease. So Pence’s views on abstinence are completely irrelevant to how he will handle this epidemic.

Secondly, the fact that Kimmel is using Pence’s religious views to mock him is something that should not be tolerated by ABC.

These days, Christians seem to be fair game for attacks by the left in a way that no other religion is, and this bigotry needs to end.

ABC needs to make an example out of Kimmel by at least making it clear that they do not support making a mockery of Christianity.

Though we won’t be holding our breath for that to actually happen.
