We are officially on the Road to WrestleMania 36 , with the Royal Rumble in the books. At the event, Drew McIntyre and Charlotte Flair won their respective Rumbles and thus earned title shots. For McIntyre, the winning was somewhat surprising. It was certainly the biggest moment of his wrestling career and his face showed. As for Charlotte, she can add a Rumble win to her many accolades. Despite Lesnar not getting the victory, he left an impression. He entered number one and took about half of the superstars out before getting eliminated by McIntyre. In the process, Lesnar tied some Rumble records and continued to show his dominance over the WWE roster.
We know McIntyre will challenge Brock Lesnar, while Charlotte has not made her choice. There are rumors that Charlotte will not select someone from RAW or SmackDown. Instead, she will look at the NXT brand.
The biggest story from the show was the return of Edge. Following a nine year retirement, Edge has been cleared to once again compete. Seeing how RAW ended, it seems Edge vs. Randy Orton is a lock for WrestleMania. As for the rest of the card, we will have to see what develops over the next eight weeks.
Other big winners from the eventing include “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, who defeated Daniel Bryan. They fought in WWE’s first strap match in almost 10 years. After losing to Asuka last year, Becky Lynch finally got her revenge. That win should send “The Man” to WrestleMania still wearing the RAW Women’s Championship that she won the previous year.
Overall, the Royal Rumble seemed like a success to fans and hopefully that pace continues into WrestleMania 36 as this is WWE’s time to draw in an audience.
