Dana Mustafa

A North Carolina woman is facing charges for causing terror in the skies aboard a United Airlines flight from Frankfurt Germany to to Dulles International Airport on February 22. Dana Mustafa assaulted a Federal Air Marshal before threatening to stab everyone else on the plane and commit suicide.

Terror On United Airlines

The nightmare aboard this international United Airlines flight began when Mustafa set off a smoke detector in the airplane’s bathroom.

The passenger was informed by flight attendants that smoking is strictly prohibited and illegal on flights. Mustafa was thus forced to return to her seat, while crying and claiming that her family was killed by a drunk driver. The distraught 27-year-old then punched the television on the seatback in front of her.

Court documents detail that a Federal Air Marshal witnessed Mustafa getting up from her seat again and heading to the rear of the plane. At that time, Mustafa attempted to activate a lighter while walking back the aisle.

A flight attendant attempted to prevent her from entering the airplane bathroom again. But, Mustafa pushed the flight attendant and attempted to close the bathroom door.

That’s when two Federal Air Marshals on board decided to intervene.

Assaulting A Federal Air Marshal

Dana Mustafa was combative as the Air Marshals attempted to handcuff her. She refused to comply and began yelling and kicking one of the federal agents on the shin.

After the scuffle, the unruly passenger was forced to sit beside an Air Marshal for the remainder of the flight. But that’s when Mustafa really dug herself a hole by threatening everyone aboard the plane.

“I’m going to stab everyone on this plane. Then kill myself. I’m Palestinian! That’s how we get down,” Mustafa yelled.

This had to be a terrifying ordeal for the rest of the passengers aboard the United Airlines flight. Just imagine traveling with young children and being exposed to this frightful display.

Upon the plane’s arrival at Dulles International Airport outside of Washington DC, Mustafa was greeted by the FBI and faced immediate questioning by an agent. During questioning, Mustafa admitted that her story about her family being killed by a drunk driver was a lie.

Authorities also found a half empty bottle of Absolute Vodka in her bag. So perhaps the 27-year-old will attempt to use intoxication as an excuse.

But, creating havoc aboard an international flight is not to be taken lightly. Just as attacking an Air Marshal and making serious threats should come with serious consequences.

Dana Mustafa is charged with assaulting a federal officer and faces up to eight years in prison if convicted. She is currently out on bond.
