If you happen to be a member of the ONE Championship women’s atomweight division, be warned, Stamp Fairtex is feeling more and more confident by the day in regards to her mixed martial arts skills.

Stamp, the current ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion, will compete for the fourth time in mixed martial arts when she faces Puja Tomar at ONE: A NEW TOMORROW on Friday from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

For the 22-year-old Stamp, she continues to build towards becoming a three-division champion.

“When it comes to mixed martial arts, I am beginning to feel more comfortable,” Stamp said. “I am getting used to the style, the competition and being in the Circle. This will be my fourth time competing in mixed martial arts. I think I have improved my takedown defense the most.”

Stamp admits that part of her game has gone from “absolutely nothing to being able to compete and defend myself,” but also that she still has gains to be made.

“I still need to get better,” she said. “I need to improve my ground game and get stronger because (reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion) Angela Lee is good all-around.”

Back in November, Stamp picked up a decision victory over Bi Nguyen at ONE: MASTERS OF FATE. It marked the first time she had gone 15 minutes over three rounds after earning a submission win over Asha Roka and a knockout against Rashi Shinde in her first two mixed martial arts bouts.

Nguyen might have been able to push Stamp to the distance, but that was a positive for the native of Rayong, Thailand.

“I am really happy about the result,” she said. “‘Killer Bee’ is an accomplished wrestler. She tried to take me down the whole bout. I think my size helped me defend the takedowns. I have learned to defend takedowns. It was the most times I have had to defend them.

“My stand-up game is really good. It is strong, but my ground game still needs a lot of work.”

Despite her age, Stamp has been competing since 2003. She made her initial mark on ONE Championship through Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series, debuting with the promotion in 2018 and becoming a World Champion instantly.

Stamp is focused on Tomar at the moment, but she is already thinking about a potential bout with former ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title challenger Mei Yamaguchi, who has won her last four.

“Maybe after two more bouts, I would like to face Mei Yamaguchi,” Stamp concluded. “Mei is very strong and her wrestling is very good. I think if I fight her, I will progress and grow, and I will be able to see where my weaknesses are.”
