Following Kevin Feige’s admission that a new transgender character would be introduced into the MCU, a new report details the Marvel Studios president misspoke.
During a Q&A at the New York Film Academy Feige was asked, “Are there any current plans on bringing more LGBT+ characters into the MCU specifically the T, trans characters?”
Feige responded, “Yes, absolutely. Yes.”
He added, “And very soon. In a movie that we’re shooting right now. Yes.”
Now, a new report from Variety indicates that Feige misspoke.
Variety’s Adam B. Vary reports, “two sources close to the studio tell Variety that Feige intended to respond to the first part about LGBT+ characters, and he did not mean to imply that a trans character will be coming to the MCU ‘very soon.'”

Feige did confirm that the Eternals film will feature a gay character. Back in August on Good Morning America, Feige stated, “He’s married. He’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is.”

While Variety reports that Feige misspoke, there is a rumor that Marvel Studios plans to introduce a transgender female character in Phase 4.
What do you make of this new report? Do you think Feige misspoke? Or do you think he was answering the question at the New York Film Academy?
