Godzilla vs. Kong Leaks Expose the Movie’s Villains and a Final Battle

According to Reddit and a few tie-in toys, Godzilla vs. Kong will see the two behemoths join forces to fight two threats, one of which is unknown.

Online spoilers for Godzilla vs. Kong potentially reveal a final battle and who the movie’s real villain or villains are. And reports hint strongly there are two.

Cosmic Book News states the adversaries, who will spur Kong and Godzilla to join forces, are “Mechagodzilla and an unknown Titan” possibly created by Monarch.

Mechagodzilla and genetically manufactured Titans were teased in newspaper clippings at the end of King of the Monsters. Here is one excerpt that appears amid the final credits:

“De La Rosa went on to claim that Monarch was not only developing this mechanized giant on Skull Island, but had already tried to create organic Titans in the past, and that they are the cause of several of the recent Titan incidents.”

Toy Spoilers

Confirmation came when a photo showing items from the film’s toy line was posted to Twitter.

Mechagodzilla is in the center group opposite Godzilla. The mechanized monster maintains a silver color with the addition of reddish fins. He’s also leaner and resembles the Zilla from the 1998 Matthew Broderick film.

New Titan

On the left is the new Titan adjacent two Godzilla figures and a Skull Crawler. CBN notes it has a red covering and looks to be all black. The Titan’s identity is a mystery at this time but there are a handful of suspects and each of them is a heavy hitter. If it is a creation of Monarch then one nightmare product of science from Godzilla’s past comes to mind: Biollante.

Grown from combining samples of Godzilla’s blood with plant DNA, Biollante debuted in Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) and fought the icon to a standstill. The evergreen beast hasn’t been seen since but KOTM director Michael Dougherty voiced his interest in using the kaiju plant one day.

It could also be Mechaghidorah – the robotic makeover of King Ghidorah that returned to wreak havoc. KOTM’s end credits showed ecoterrorist Alan Jonah collecting one of Ghidorah’s severed heads and what he wants it for is up in the air. Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard might wrap up that plot thread and put it to use.

Another possibility is Destroyah – and there is a theory going around about that – who was incidentally created by technology that built the Oxygen Destroyer in Godzilla vs. Destroyah (1995). Those who saw KOTM know this could happen.

And finally is Gigan who, like Biollante, is a favorite of fans they haven’t seen in years. One of those fans is Dougherty. Gigan almost made the cut for KOTM so the cyborg alien specimen could ultimately show up.

If the red and black color scheme are a sign then the safest bet is either Gigan or Destroyah – both of whom are black with red wings. That is unless we’re introduced to an entirely new Titan.

Fight As One?

The mystery Titan and Mechagodzilla will help Gojira and Kong put their differences aside which has fans upset. They fear the movie will actually be a team-up without a payoff.

However, if a Reddit spoiler is to be believed, there’s nothing to worry about. A post in the r/GODZILLA community claims a final 1-on-1 battle between Kong and Godzilla does take place in Hong Kong with a “definitive winner.” The Redditor also says the source is the person “who leaked our new baddie last year.”

That doesn’t make it airtight but here’s the spoiler anyway:

*Spoilers* For Those Worried About A Team-Up from GODZILLA

Adam Wingard revealed last April filming indeed took place in Hong Kong. The feeling is producer Legendary Pictures wanted to take advantage of the location’s neon-bathed nightlife, a la Pacific Rim.

Godzilla vs. Kong’s last leak from Comic-Con Experience in Brazil showed a quick snippet of Kong and Godzilla fighting on an aircraft carrier. Although brief, any footage was soon blocked on social media but some stills remain in circulation (see below).

Godzilla vs Kong was slated to be out this Spring but the release date was pushed to November. The film now opens on Nov. 20th.
