Thiago Alves landed some heavy shots early on in his bout with Tim Means tonight at UFC DC, but it was “The Dirty Bird” who scored the first-round win.

Round one

Alves came out firing some big punches and kicks early on. Alves tagged Means with some heavy punches and Means started looking for the clinch. Means came with a spinning elbow that just missed. Mid round, Means sent Alves to the deck with a straight left and he continued to fire down shots. As Alves attempted to scramble out, Means jumped on a choke and that was that. Big comeback victory for “The Dirty Bird”.

Means was fighting for the first time since March, when he broke his leg during a stoppage loss to Niko Price.
