Tito Ortiz Wants A Crack At Brock Lesnar

Why Brock Lesnar Is On SmackDown

Tito Ortiz sees himself challenging anyone who holds a title after this coming Saturday night.

Ortiz, a former UFC champion and member of the hall of fame, will face Alberto El Patron (former known as Alberto Del Rio) in the main event of Combate Americas’ first pay-per-view. The card takes place from the U.S. and Mexico border in Texas.

Thanks to some handy promoting, Ortiz will put his UFC title belt on the line against the WWE championship won by El Patron when he was wrestling for the promotion.

Ortiz, during a recent interview with Submission Radio, explained that he has plans for his future after defeating El Patron and they include current WWE champion Brock Lesnar and former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.

“Brock Lesnar’s in trouble,” Ortiz said. “All those guys are in trouble. Cause this title, I’m coming after their title. I ain’t gonna stop until then, cause I’m gonna live my dream as this American dream continues on. I will be the heavyweight champion of WWE also. Just wait. Give me time, it’s gonna happen.”

As for Velasquez, Ortiz said “there’s a possibility.” Velasquez made his WWE debut earlier this year after signing a contract with the company.

“It’s one of those things, if Cain can get down to 205, I’m in, let’s do this,” he said. “I would love to do it. Cain is an awesome champion, heavyweight champion, he’s a great fighter, and he hasn’t fought in a while, and if that’s the next opponent, then let it be. Right now, I haven’t thought past 10 p.m. on Saturday and my hand being raised.”

WWE Title Very Important To Ortiz

That’s when Ortiz will take on El Patron in his first MMA bout since defeating Chuck Liddell last November. Ortiz also topped Chael Sonnen in 2017 when they met in Bellator.

Asked why claiming the piece of WWE history is so important to Ortiz, he explained “I’ve always been a huge WWE fan.”

““That’s exciting to me. That’s why I put in a 19-week camp, to have a WWE heavyweight championship belt, and I beat the guy who won one,” he added.” “I guess people don’t get it. They’re not big fans of WWE like me, cause I’ve always been a huge WWE fan as a kid. Even throughout my career, I mean, I could name so many WWE wrestlers that I’ve looked up to, I’ve taken small pieces of their career and added to mine.

“From Hulk Hogan to Stone Cold Steve Austin to Dwayne Johnson. I mean, so many guys that I watched through my career. I was willing to sacrifice one of my titles, and it just makes me that much more hungry. It feels like a world championship fight, it feels like I’m fighting for my title, I’m fighting for my name, I’m fighting for my legacy.”
