Colby Covington

Recently there’s been plenty of talk about Colby Covington, and to what extent he believes the things he says. But, according to Jon Jones, his former roommate is a “habitual liar” and not someone you should trust.

Jones trashes Covington

Covington has been making plenty of headlines as of late, in big part, because of his fight tonight with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. But, Covington’s also been in the news, due to recent comments he made about his “Chaos” persona. Covington claims he began ramping up controversial statements back in 2017, because the UFC had informed him he was on the chopping block.

Well, Jones attended a press conference on Friday to promote his February 8th bout with Dominick Reyes. When asked about Covington, who has blasted Jones in the past for his various incidents, Jones said this (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“Colby’s a habitual liar at the end of the day. He really is,” Jones said. “He told the fans that we lived together for two years. We lived together for one semester.

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes and a lot of people don’t consider me to be a good person, but coming from me, Colby’s a really bad person. He really is. He really, really is.”

“There’s no coincidence that Tyron Woodley got to know him and hates him. [Jorge] Masvidal got to know him and hates him,” Jones said. “I got to live with him and really don’t like him.”

“If any of you guys got to know him, he really is a rotten person. I think MMA community is going to start to see it over the years.”

Now, Covington’s supporters probably won’t pay too much attention to Jones’ comments. As noted above, Covington has repeatedly trashed Jones over his highly publicized controversies. But, Jones isn’t the only person to accuse Covington of being a bad person, outside of his “Chaos” bit. Masvidal has alleged Covington didn’t pay one of their coaches at American Top Team, following a training camp.

Whether Covington is a decent person or not, if he loses tonight, will he continue to make inflammatory and polarizing statements?
