Anthony Hopkins

While much of Hollywood pushes a liberal agenda, there are some who stay above the fray. Anthony Hopkins is one of those wise men. He sat down for an interview with fellow actor Brad Pitt and explained why. It comes down to a simple reason. “Actors are pretty stupid,” Hopkins said.

The Two Popes On Netflix

Hopkins is currently doing the press tour to promote his new Netflix movie The Two Popes in which he portrays Pope Benedict XVI.

While Robert DeNiro is using his time promoting The Irishman to bash President Trump, Hopkins refuses to interject politics or his opinions into his interviews. (BACKSTORY: Robert De Niro Loses It In Interview Calling Trump A ‘Fake President’ And ‘Abusive’)

“People ask me questions about present situations in life, and I say, ‘I don’t know, I’m just an actor,'” the Academy Award winner shared. ” I don’t have any opinions. Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything. There’s no controversy for me, so don’t engage me in it, because I’m not going to participate.”

This is a very wise approach.

Lecturing moviegoers on politics is sure to alienate half of the public. It’s not worth the risk for someone like Anthony Hopkins.

Also, when many of Hollywood’s elite speak out, they often don’t fully understand the topic. They only dish out leftwing talking points. When they are confronted with facts, their stupidity and ignorance is suddenly revealed. This is not a very attractive look. Anthony Hopkins Talks Faith

There is something that Hopkins has spoken out about, his faith. The A-list actor credits his belief in God for helping him get and remain sober. Accepting God was a turning point for the former atheist.

At an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, a woman changed his life by asking a basic and straightforward question. “Why don’t you just trust in God?”

Hopkins was an atheist at the time, but he was desperate to overcome his addiction so he tried it and he never looked back.

In another interview, Hopkins compared atheism to “living in a closed cell with no windows.”

“I’d hate to live like that, wouldn’t you? We see them, mind you, on television today, many brilliant people who are professional atheists who say they know for a fact that it’s insanity to have a God or to believe in religion. Well, OK, God bless them for feeling that way and I hope they’re happy.”

He added: “But I couldn’t live with that certainty, and I wonder about some of them: why are they protesting so much? How are they so sure of what is out there? And who am I to refute the beliefs of so many great philosophers and martyrs all the way down the years?”

Anthony Hopkins is an icon and a true rarity in Hollywood.
