UFC 244: Derrick Lewis Gets by Blagoy Ivanov

Derrick Lewis snapped a two-fight losing streak tonight at UFC 244, by getting by a very game, Blagoy Ivanov.

Ivanov took Lewis down not long into the fight, and as he went for an armlock, Lewis exploded up and out. The latter fired in some heavy shots, but Ivanov weathered the storm. In round two, Lewis came with another ferocious flurry that had Ivanov in retreat. The Sambo champ took Lewis down, started working an Americana, and once again, Lewis popped back to his feet. Lewis bombed away with heavy shots but Ivanov wouldn’t go down. Before the second round ended, Ivanov sent Lewis flying with a beautiful throw.

The action slowed in round three, but Ivanov pressed forward in the opening minutes. Ivanov initiated the clinch more often in the final frame, and he was the busier of the two until the final 20 seconds.
