Cody Rhodes Files Trademarks + WWE Explains Maura Ranallo’s Absence

Cody Rhodes Files Trademarks For Familiar WCW Pay Per Views

WCW might have been purchased almost 19 years ago, but we are now seeing some of their iconic events pop up for other promotions. Before WarGames became a yearly tradition on NXT and with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) now promoting Bash At The Beach, those events are seemingly making a comeback.

PWInsider is now reporting how Cody Rhodes has filed trademarks for Slamboree and SuperBrawl; a pair of events familiar with the WCW label.

AEW’s Cody Runnels applied to trademark Slamboree on 11/19 for “G & S: Entertainment in the nature of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network”

Runnells also applied to trademark SuperBrawl for “G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network”

While Bash At the Beach is set for 2020 in AEW, there have been rumblings that WWE is not happy. This has led to conversations if WWE will use the courts in an attempt to stop AEW from producing the show.

WWE Explains Why Mauro Ranallo Missed Survivor Series

WWE may have a volatile and sensitive situation on it’s hands.

Last night, NXT held TakeOver: WarGames. Mauro Ranallo was the lead announcer for NXT. Corey Graves took issue with Ranallo’s commentating, sending out a couple tweets that effectively implied that Mauro Ranallo talked too much.

What happened next may or may not have been related, but Ranallo deleted his Twitter account.

Now, fast forward to tonight’s Survivor Series, and Mauro Ranallo was nowhere to be found when the time came to call matches.

WWE explained his absence by saying that Ranallo called WarGames with so much passion that he effectively blew out his voice.

Now, it is entirely possible that Mauro Ranallo, on top of all the social media drama, is indeed having vocal issues. That might really be all this is.

However, this isn’t the first time that Ranallo had issues while working for WWE. Ranallo previously covered the main roster on RAW but ended up taking time off before reappearing on NXT. Mauro has been very open about his ongoing battles with mental health problems, though again, there’s no indication that his personal battles have anything to do with his current absence.

Both Ranallo and Graves are talented at what they do, so you hope that whatever is going on gets resolved soon.
