Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is a constant target of gay rights activists. And those firebrands just scored a victory this week as Chick-fil-A’s President announced the chain is ending their donations to certain Christian charities deemed “Anti-LGBT” by gay rights activists.

Christian Charities At Center of Protests

This news appears shocking on its face. But the restaurants vow to retain the same atmosphere and will remain closed on Sunday in accordance with the beliefs of the founder.

Chick-fil-A will, however, no longer donate to charities that provoked the most hostility from left-wing activists. Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Paul Anderson Youth Home are among the charities no longer getting checks from the chicken kings at Chick-fil-A.

Recently, at the urging of vocal LGBT protesters, the first Chick-fil-A in the United Kingdom was ordered closed shortly after it opened. That apparently had quite an impact on management.

Chick-fil-A’s announcement stirred some consternation with some of its most loyal supporters. Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential contender, referred to Chick-fil-A’s announcement as “sad”. Adding that the chain quite clearly “surrendered to anti-Christian hate groups”.

Chick-fil-A’s Announcement

In an interview with Bisnow, Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos made the announcement.

From Daily Wire:

“As Chick-fil-A expands globally and into more liberal parts of the U.S., the chicken chain plans to change which charities it donates to after years of bad press and protests from the LGBT community,” Bisnow reported Monday. “Beginning next year, Chick-fil-A will move away from its current philanthropic structure,” Bisnow has learned. “After donating to more than 300 charitable organizations this year, the Atlanta-based fast-food chain will instead focus on three initiatives with one accompanying charity each: education, homelessness and hunger. ”

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” Tassopoulos told Bisnow. “There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.”

With its new, more narrowed approach to charitable donations, the company’s charitable actions “will no longer include donating to organizations like the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul Anderson Youth Home,” Bisnow reports.

The chain also posted to their official blog confirming their charity priorities for 2020.

Chick-fil-A Leaves Some Loyal Supporters Disappointed

The restaurant chain stood firm on its Christian beliefs for so long. So it’s shocking to think that corporate might have caved to pacify protesters – or expand its customer base.

Some current customers, who were loyal in part because of their stances, are upset.

If the restaurant is expecting gay rights activists to pick up the slack from the Christians who won’t be buying their chicken sandwiches as frequently, they might have something coming to them.

It’s hard to imagine that demographic being loyal to a sandwich. How many of them are vegans?

Perhaps Chick-fil-A felt the heat from the Popeyes sandwich craze and felt they needed to do something drastic.

While many of us will continue eating at Chick-fil-A, the ride or die loyalty seems diminished for some.
