In the latter stages of Vitor Belfort’s storied career, there’s been no shortage of talk and debate about “The Phenom’s” physique. Well, as the 42-year-old gets set to make his debut with ONE Championship in 2020, a new video of a jacked Belfort hitting pads has fired up these discussions again.

A ripped Belfort tears into pads

Recently the renowned Evolve MMA gym in Singapore posted the video below, which captures Belfort hitting pads. As you can see, the star is looking pretty ripped, in comparison to how he appeared in advance of his last UFC bout, in May, 2018 (also see below).

Debate over Belfort’s physique

If you’re new to MMA, you may not know that Belfort’s physique has been the focus point for plenty of debate over the years. The reason being that Belfort previously used testosterone-replacement-therapy (TRT), when the practice was allowed by various athletic commissions and the UFC (it should be noted there were many other fighters who did as well).

During that time, Belfort recorded several, jaw-dropping finishes and some critics argued his use of TRT contributed to the wins. Some, however, opined Belfort’s success was due to the addition of a new kicking arsenal. Others argued it was a combination of both.

All that aside, there’s no question there will be plenty of interest in Belfort’s ONE debut, which has yet to be announced.

Belfort will arrive in ONE armed with a record of 26-14. Before being knocked out by Lyoto Machida in May, 2018, Belfort earned a decision win over Nate Marquardt in June, 2017. The legend is 1-3, with 1 no-contest in his last 5 fights.
