"Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek's wife of 29 years, Jean Currivan Trebek, discussed how faith is helping them cope with Alex's pancreatic cancer

Jean Currivan Trebek, who has been married to “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek for 29 years, just gave a rare interview. In her SurvivorNet  interview, Trebek’s wife opened up about how her faith has helped both her and husband Alex cope with his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

Alex Trebek’s Wife Discusses Her Faith

Fox News reported that Jean explained that for the past decade, she has been practicing Religious Science, a faith that combines elements of sound healing, meditation and Reiki. As Alex undergoes chemotherapy, Jean said that their faith has served to “uplift” them both.

“It comes from a place of love, because I want to uplift him … and when I keep my own self buoyed and enjoying my life, I can actually share that with him,” said Jean, 54.

“So the doctors have decided that I have to undergo chemo again and that’s what I’m doing.” “He can look at me and have a sense of ‘life is beautiful; my wife is doing something good.”

Jean went on to say that she has often played her sound-healing crystal bowls for Alex, who has credited both her and his fans for getting him through this difficult time.

Advice From Jean Currivan Trebek

Jean Currivan Trebek, who is a licensed practitioner at the North Hollywood Church of Religious Science, also offered some advice to others who are struggling with something right now.

“Just ask the universe, ‘What’s the next step for me?’” she said. “The universe will always respond. I am absolutely sure that we live in a benevolent universe that is always conspiring for our highest and greatest good.”

Alex revealed his diagnosis back in March, and two months later, he updated his fans to say that his doctors were shocked at how effective chemotherapy had been at treating his tumors.

“It’s kind of mind-boggling,” Trebek said at the time. “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory… some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.”

Alex Trebek Undergoing Chemo Again

When Trebek returned to hosting “Jeopardy!” back in September, he said he was done with chemotherapy. However, he has since started receiving chemotherapy treatments again after his health took a turn for the worse.

“I lost about 12 pounds in a week. And my numbers went sky high, much higher than they were when I was first diagnosed,” he told ABC News.  “So the doctors have decided that I have to undergo chemo again and that’s what I’m doing.”

We’re glad to see that the Trebeks are leaning on their faith during this difficult time. Please keep Alex in your thoughts and prayers!
