UFC Boston: Greg Hardy Goes to The Judges’ Scorecards For The First Time

Greg Hardy remains an undefeated fighter following UFC Boston, but the former NFL player was tested decently by heavyweight, Ben Sosoli.

Round one

Both fighters came out winging big shots to begin the fight. Sosoli pressured early while Hardy looked to counterstrike. Sosoli threatened with a big left but Hardy fired in a hard right that landed. Late in the round, Hardy tagged Sosoli with several more punches. Replay after the round showed that Sosoli did take an eye poke in the first round.

Round two

Hardy planted a hard kick to the body early into round two and continued to counter well. Hardy fired in more kicks and Sosoli began to reach a bit with his punches. Sosoli’s corner started to get on him for not staying busy enough. Some boos started to ring out due to the lack of offense, and then Sosoli came with a big left that missed.

Round three

So, apparently between rounds, Hardy used an asthma inhaler, which is not supposed to be allowed. Sosoli continued to press forward in round three. Marc Ratner just confirmed using an inhaler is not allowed. Hardy tagged Sosoli with a nice straight right a couple of minutes in. More boos were ringing out before Sosoli briefly went to the deck after taking a leg kick. Sosoli scored with a hard left hand during the last minute but Hardy ate it. With around 30 seconds left, Sosoli tagged Hardy with another left that had him backpedaling.

After the bout Hardy was announced as the winner via decision, and Jon Anik reported Hardy was told by a commission official he could use the inhaler.
