Colby Covington is set to face a fighter who’s on one of the most impressive runs right now in all of MMA. But, according to “Chaos”, he’s going to have a very easy time defeating Kamaru Usman at UFC 245.

Usman’s rise up the UFC’s welterweight ranks

Usman arrived in the UFC back in 2015, and since then, “The Nigerian Nightmare” has done nothing but win. Usman has gone 10-0 to date in the Octagon, and he’s defeated big name fighters like Rafael dos Anjos, Demian Maia and the aforementioned Woodley.

Usman battled Woodley at UFC 235 this part March, and worked his way to a one-sided, decision victory. Leading up to the fight, most people understood that Usman would pose a serious test for Woodley. But not many folks predicted the fight would unfold in the manner it did.

Covington’s recent comments

Well, Covington is booked to fight Usman at UFC 245, December 14th. Over the preceding months, “Chaos” has repeatedly blasted Usman, but while speaking to MMA Junkie recently, the accomplished wrestler said this:

“I’m expecting this fight to be the easiest fight of my career,” Covington said. “The guy, he can’t hang with me in any department of mixed martial arts. He’s a D-II wrestling scrub. His boxing and standup game is amateur at best. His jiu-jitsu is pathetic. I mean, I’m better than him everywhere.”

“I’m going to knock him out inside three rounds,” Covington said. “Take that money to the bank if you guys want to make your bank accounts great again. He’s getting finished. That chin is weak. He’s been dropped in a lot of fights, and he don’t have that good of a chin. When he finds out that he can’t wrestle with me, he will be put stiff and unconscious on Dec. 14. and Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington will be the face of the UFC.”

There you have it. Now, does Covington really believe it’s going to be the “easiest” bout of his career? The answer’s very likely no. After all, “Chaos” is known for making inflammatory and controversial statements.

But, is Covington really confident he’s going to beat Usman? He very well could be. Covington is also on a very impressive run, which includes winning the interim title. In the aforementioned interview, the 31-year-old also reported he’s brought in NCAA All-American wrestler Pat Downey to help him prepare for Usman. According to Covington, Downey used to “wipe the mats” with Usman.

UFC 245 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
