When it was announced Darren Till is going to throw hand with Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244, more than a few people questioned the wisdom of the British fighter’s decision. Well, clearly Till’s aware of all this, as the now former welterweight plans to say a few things to his doubters, if he wins on November 2nd.

Till’s move to 185

Due to the fact Till was such a massive welterweight, and because of his issues making 170 for his fight with Stephen Thompson last year, talk about him moving to 185 made the rounds. After being submitted by now former welterweight champ Tyron Woodley in September, Till was knocked out by Jorge Masvidal this past March. Talk above a move to 185 spiked again, and Till is set to face the middleweight contender Gastelum at UFC 244.

Till’s plans for his doubters

Since Till is coming off back-to-back losses, however, some have questioned whether he should be facing a hard-hitting and explosive fighter like Gastelum next. The argument being that another loss would be a considerable setback for Till, so, why not face someone who is not a top-tier middleweight?

Well, while speaking with the media recently, Till had this to say (quote via MMA Mania):

“Listen, I could well lose,” Till admitted. “It could be another knockout. There’s nothing really to say about that. Either it is or it isn’t. I know what I’m good at. And if I do it, Kelvin won’t touch me. He won’t. He simply won’t lay a glove on me. It could go the other way and he could be victorious on that night. We’ll just have to see. But yeah, it’s a third loss. But at least I didn’t take the s**tbag route. I’m fighting the best and I’m taking all these (risks).”

“Dana tried to convince me not to take the fight. And I was like, ‘Why?’ So if it’s another loss, which it won’t be. So what?”

“As soon as I beat Kelvin and I get on that mic, make sure your cameras are rolling because you’ll know what I have to say,” Till reported. “I’m not going to say it now, but I’ve got stuff to say to a lot of people. To a lot of people who don’t believe in me and are so quick to turn their backs. They know who they are and a lot of the casuals know who they are. And I certainly know who they are. Make sure the camera is rolling when that mic gets put to me and my hand gets raised.”

There you have it, and really, these comments shouldn’t come as a surprise. If Till can beat Gastelum it will be a fantastic way to begin his middleweight run. No question.

UF 244 will be hosted by Madison Squared Garden in New York City.
