Chick-fil-A's first United Kingdom store is being shut down. The shopping center is caving to liberal protests targeting the chain's Christian values.

The first Chick-fil-A to ever open in the United Kingdom announced that it will close after just six months amid disruptive liberal protests from various leftwing gay rights groups who claim the openly Christian restaurant chain is anti-LGBTQ.

Chick-fil-A Victim of Liberal Protests

Fox News reported that Chick-fil-A opened a “pilot” location on October 10 in Reading, U.K. The city is about an hour and a half drive from London.

The pilot restaurant is located in The Oracle shopping center. A spokesperson for The Oracle said that concerns raised by liberal gay rights activists had them conclude that it was “the right thing to do” to not extend the restaurant’s lease beyond the “six-month pilot period.”

On Saturday night, liberal protesters swarmed the mall holding a large sign that read, “GET THE CHICK OUT Say NO to bigotry and hatred on your High Street.”

Liberal Protests Claim Chick-fil-A Is Anti-Gay

Liberal activists have long been out to get Chick-fil-A. The chain is a target because of the millions they donate to Christian groups that the Left claims are anti-LGBTQ.

Haters of America’s favorite restaurant chain say that Chick-fil-A CEO, Dan Cathy, made statements condemning both homosexuality and gay marriage.

In a 2012 interview, Cathy said that America is “inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.”

“I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about,” he added.

When later asked about these statements, Cathy defended them, saying that he is “guilty as charged” in his beliefs.

Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A as a brand stands by their donations to Christian groups that leftists say spread anti-LGBTQ rhetoric.

In a statement released back in March, the restaurant chain said that the donations were meant to “help with economic mobility of young people by focusing on homelessness and poverty, education, and community revitalization, and is done with no political or social agenda.”

Public Reacts

Users on Twitter were quick to react the UK pilot store’s closing announcement.

One openly gay user described the protesters targeting the chain and Christians as “extremists”, and encouraged Chick-fil-A to stand their ground.

One Catholic priest pointed out the hypocrisy of the shopping center’s decision and the slippery slope.

Chick-fil-A Welcomes All Backgrounds and Beliefs

Last year, Chick-fil-A released a statement saying that their restaurant chain does not discriminate against anyone.

“Chick-fil-A is a restaurant company focused on food, service and hospitality, and our restaurants and licensed locations on college campuses welcome everyone,” the chain said.

“We have no policy of discrimination against any group, and we do not have a political or social agenda. More than 120,000 people from different backgrounds and beliefs represent the Chick-fil-A brand.”

Liberals Target Christians

Liberals are really out to destroy Chick-fil-A because the restaurant chain is unapologetically Christian. Being Christian is an unforgivable sin in the eyes of the increasingly bigoted-against-religion Left.

It’s unfortunate that anti-Christian bigotry forced this outcome. In turn, depriving the people of the United Kingdom of what many consider to be the tastiest fast food out there.

What happened in the U.K. should serve as a sobering reminder of how vulnerable Chick-fil-A is stateside.

If you love Chick-fil-A, they need your support now more than ever!
