Leading up to UFC Boston, Chris Weidman argued that Jon Jones hadn’t looked as impressive in his last couple of outings. Well, following Weidman’s loss to Dominick Reyes on Friday, it wasn’t long before Jones took a poke at the former middleweight champ on social media.
For years now, Weidman has talked about his wish to face Jones at some juncture, and as he prepared to face Reyes he relayed he hoped to secure a fight with “Bones” on Friday. Further, recently Weidman opined that he always “knew” Jones was beatable, and that the champ had looked more vulnerable in his recent fights.
Well, as you’ve surely heard, Weidman’s light-heavyweight debut went far from according to plan. Reyes floored the New York fighter with a straight left in round one and then finished the deal with hammer fists. Afterward, Jones shared out these comments and images. As you can see, they also refer to Luke Rockhold: another former middleweight champ who said he was targeting a fight with Jones, before Jan Blachowicz KO’d him in July.
Before you guys come to my weight class and start talking shit, make sure you can get past a few of my contenders first ?? #welcome
