Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon

Despite being the majority shareholder in the WWE, the person who is holding the real power within the WWE could be none other than Brock Lesnar! In other news, Bret Hart does not believe Goldberg should be in the Hall of Fame. What a week to be a wrestling fan!

Is WWE’s Real Power In The Hands Of Brock Lesnar?

Kofi Kingston and Brock Lesnar

Even though this news once again comes from Dave Meltzer, it is more than worth discussing as it could have serious implications for future storylines as well as the WWE as a product. According to Meltzer, Brock Lesnar is the man that holds the real power in the WWE. Even though Vince McMahon is the majority shareholder.

If the story is to be believed, Lesnar has 100% creative freedom within the company. Not only is he paid astronomical amounts of money for appearances, he decides when he wants to lose. If this is accurate, it would explain Brock Lesnar’s long and painful title reigns last year.

“Whether he’s a babyface or a heel, Brock’s only going so far for the team. Brock’s not gonna like… when it comes to Brock and Vince, people hate this, but when it comes to Brock and Vince — Brock is the one who calls the shots, not Vince and Brock can get away with anything and people hate hearing that. In the end, it’s still Vince’s company, but Brock isn’t doing anything that Brock doesn’t want to do. Every program, when he loses he wants to lose… every program, that’s just how it is you know it’s an interesting thing.”

Interestingly, it is believed that the control of Brock Lesnar is one of the reasons why Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) left the WWE for AEW. He would later have serious criticism on Brock Lesnar and the WWE as a whole. So, the story does ring true when you look at Lesnar’s track record.

Bret Hart Does Not Think Goldberg Should Be In The Hall Of Fame

Bret Hart and Goldberg

Another controversial statement comes from Bret Hart this week. During an interview with Prime Time With Sean Mooney, Hart stated that he does not think Goldberg should be in the WWE Hall of Fame.

“I wish that Bill Goldberg had never kicked me in the head as hard as he could. I don’t know how you give a guy a Hall of Fame thing for hurting as many wrestlers as Bill Goldberg hurt, and without consequence – he usually got a pat on the back and told how good of job he did out there when you’re scraping the wrestler that worked with him off the mat.”

Based on the statements of Bret Hart, he believes Goldberg has hurt too many wrestlers. Once again, I do not agree with Hart. While he may be the better technical wrestler, Goldberg is still one of my favorites. And, if I had to choose someone to have a drink with, it would be Goldberg. He is a genuinely nice guy, while Bret Hart always comes over as bitter and jaded. Of course, that’s just my personal view on the matter. Both wrestlers are icons in their own right. I just wish people could let others enjoy their respective success.
