UFC Fight Night 160

Jared Cannonier continues to push forward, adding Jack Hermansson to his resume Saturday with a finish at UFC Fight Night 160.

The event marked the debut for the Octagon in Denmark, with the card taking place in Copenhagen.

Cannonier pushed his run to three consecutive victories, with all three coming via finish in either the first or second round. Earlier this year, he stopped former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 237, adding to a late 2018 win over ex-World Series of Fighting champion David Branch.

Overall, the 35-year-old has gone 7-3 in 10 UFC appearances and is 13-4 for his career.

The loss snapped a four-fight win streak for Hermansson, as he had earned an April decision over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. The 34-year-old also submitted Branch this year and owned finishes over Gerald Meerschaert and Thales Leites during his run.

In the co-main event, Mark Madsen claimed a first round TKO over Danilo Belluardo, as the Denmark native ignited the home crowd inside the Royal Arena.

Madsen, who represented Denmark in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, won a silver in Greco-Roman wrestling that year. He is now 9-0 in his mixed martial arts career with six finishes to his credit.

In a welterweight feature attraction, Gilbert Burns picked up a decision over Gunnar Nelson, sweeping all three scorecards by matching 29-28s. Ion Cutelaba finished off Khalil Rountree Jr. in the first round, Ovince Saint Preux submitted Michael Oleksiejczuk in the second and Nicolas Dalby earned a decision over Alex Oliveira to kickoff the main card on ESPN+.

Seven prelim bouts took place on ESPN+ highlighted by a 17-second knockout by John Phillips over Alen Amedovski. Makhmud Muradov, Ismail Naurdiev, Giga Chikadze, Lina Lansberg, Marc Diakiese and Jack Shore were all victorious.

There was a bit of an issue in hte Chikadze vs. Brandon Davis match, as it had originally been ruled a draw. Later, the scorecards were re-figured and it was determined that Chikadze had won via split decision.
