The line-up for UFC Copenhagen isn’t stacked with all-star fighters, but there are several interesting storylines tied to the card, including the Octagon debut of Mark O. Madsen. The undefeated fighter is set to face Danillo Belluardo.

Madsen’s decorated wrestling career

The now 35-year-old Madsen had an awe-inspiring wrestling career and then some. Not only did the Danish lightweight win a Silver Medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2016 Olympic Games, Madsen won four silver medals and a bronze medal at the World Championships. So, in terms of wrestling, ya, he has quite the resume.

Madsen’s MMA career

Madsen had his first MMA fight back in 2013, and after quickly putting away Philipp Henze, he submitted Chay Ingram in 2014. The Danish fighter decided to focus on wrestling once again, however, before Madsen returned to MMA competition in 2018. Since then, the rising fighter has won six more fights to push his overall record to 8-0. Most recently, Madsen faced Patrick Nielsen at an Olympian Fight Night card in June, and he scored a first-round, submission win.

Madsen , who has only been training in MMA fulltime for around two years, is coached by UFC vet, Martin Kampmann.

UFC Copenhagen will be hosted by the city’s Royal Arena.
