Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to make his long-awaited return to the cage at UFC 242, following his win over Conor McGregor last October, which was the biggest fight in UFC history.

Khabib’s massive, massive win at UFC 229

Nurmagomedov and McGregor were booked to fight at UFC 229 last October, and not long after the fight was signed, many folks predicted it would be the biggest bout in UFC history. After all, in McGregor you had the biggest star in the game, taking on a fighter who never has been defeated. Not only that, but, there was the now-infamous incident prior to UFC 223, which saw McGregor throw a dolly at a bus that Khabib was in.

Well, tensions continued to ratchet up after the fight was signed, largely on account of inflammatory remarks McGregor made about Nurmagomedov and his background. The fight had a ton of buzz behind it by the time it arrived, and it’s believed to have sold 2,400,000 pay-per-views – the most in UFC history.

As the video below demonstrates, Khabib’s wrestling and top game largely ruled the day against McGregor and he submitted the star to defend the lightweight crown.
